The Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) presented its annual report of activities and results for 2023, as well as its plans and strategies for 2024, in an event held at the Playa Grande Hotel, attended by more than 150 people from the industry. tourism, municipal and state authorities.

The director of FITURCA, Rodrigo Esponda, highlighted that 2023 was a year of great challenges and opportunities for the destination, which managed to maintain its position as one of the favorites for national and international travelers, especially from the United States and Canada.

Among the most relevant achievements, he mentioned that Los Cabos registered an average hotel occupancy of 75%, with an average rate of $350 per night, the highest in Mexico and one of the highest in Latin America. In addition, the destination received more than 2.5 million visitors, of which 40% were repeat visitors and 20% were first-time visitors, that is, they returned to the destination after having visited it for the first time.

Esponda also highlighted the increase in air connectivity, with the opening of 12 new routes and the increase in frequencies on existing ones, which made it possible to have more than 30 thousand weekly seats available from 26 cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Likewise, he highlighted the diversification of markets, with participation in international fairs and events such as Fitur in Spain, where Los Cabos was the only Mexican destination with its own pavilion.

The director of FITURCA pointed out that 2024 will be a year of challenges and opportunities, given the increasingly strong competition from other destinations, the uncertainty generated by the elections in the United States and the celebration of the Olympics in Paris. For this reason, he said that they will focus on offering unique and quality experiences to travelers, that generate certainty and satisfaction, and that motivate them to recommend and return to the destination.

“People no longer only travel to a place because it is beautiful, or because there is a new hotel, but they are looking for a set of experiences that, truly, in some cases, move and are life-changing or life-changing.” the sense of seeing things,” said Rodrigo Esponda.

To this end, he announced that projects will be promoted such as the development of a convention center, the creation of a contemporary art museum, the consolidation of

cultural, sporting and gastronomic events, and the promotion of segments such as weddings, golf, fishing, diving and adventure.

Esponda expressed his confidence that Los Cabos will continue to be a leading and reference destination in national and international tourism, thanks to the joint work of the public and private sectors, and the commitment of all actors involved in the industry.

“We have many, many things to think about, but we also have many, many things to celebrate and be grateful for, because Los Cabos is a destination that has demonstrated its capacity for resilience, innovation, adaptation and growth,” concluded Rodrigo Esponda, Director of FITURCA.
